Greek Shcool Team Earth Day 2015
΄΄ Earth Day΄΄ is a day on which events around the world are organized to raise awareness on environmental issues. It’s coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year. In 2009, the United Nations established April 22 as "International Day of Mother Earth".
This year we celebrated ‘’ Earth Day’’ in our school on Wednesday 22 April 2015 with the slogan for the day being:
"The Heart of the Earth beats at the 1st Junior High School in Gerakas"
We held with students-members of the ERASMUS+ and other students- volunteers all actions of the European Environmental program. More specifically :
EARTH DAY 2015 - OUR ACTION PLAN:
1/ Symbolic plantation of 5 fruit trees in our school garden by the Erasmus+ environmental team.
2/ Demonstration of the team's actions throughout the year: a/recycling paper, b/electronic and electrical gadgets , c/plastic lids, d/plastic bottles and e/batteries.
3/ Composting. All actions were filmed.
4/ Lecture by the officer of the Environmental Education Department for Secondary schools in our area, about the forest of Pendeli nearby our municipality, its ecosystem and how its flora and fauna are influenced by the negative human interventions.
5/ Students’ drawings of the forest during ICT class.
